Festive Lantern Parade made a welcome return to the City Centre!
Hundreds thronged to Newport City Centre with the welcomed return of Newport's Festive Lantern Parade. The Parade having been solely sponsored by Newport’s Urban Regeneration Company, Newport Unlimited and organised by Newport City Council and Malarky Arts was led by a giant magical star, followed by local school children & teachers; with the samba band ‘Batatan’; the group was joined by a wintry, colourful band of followers; a variety of mythical creatures including yeti, ice queen and holly & oak kings doing ‘battle’! The parade started from The Riverfront Theatre and made its way through the heart of the City Centre before congregating in John Frost Square, where they were met by hundreds more for a staged music event involving local choirs and dance acts.
