They say, no pain, no gain....
The map (above) shows the new route the Kingsway will take once works which are currently on site are finished.This is an ongoing project with completion anticipated summer 2007. Works on the Queensway, Kingsway and Usk Way will be carried out in stages.The exciting new retail schemes, Friars Walk and the Kingsway Centre are shown in blue.
The area between the development and the Newport Leisure Centre will be attractively pedestrianised and there will be easy-to-cross links from the new retail centre to the Riverfront.Traffic travelling on Kingsway will be redirected along Uskway (behind Newport Centre).
Access to the new Kingsway car park will be via Emlyn Street (next to Newport Centre). These works will revitalise the entrance to the city centre, provide more attractive open spaces and support the package of regeneration projects.
