Newport Regeneration
Newport City is undergoing major transformation, large areas of the city are being developed and regenerated with the aim to promote a better atmosphere for people to live and work. Some of the key new developments are described below:

Developers Modus have invested £200 million into transforming Kingsway, Upper Dock Street, John Frost Square and the Bus Station into a new, modern retail scheme. The new 388,000 sq ft of retail is planned to attract a diverse range of retailers spanning from a large 105,000 sq ft Debinhams to small niche businesses. There will also be a floor for resturants and café’s. The project is due to be completed for the Ryder Cup in 2010. For more information on the retail project please click here. |

Standing 70m (229ft) high, the new Usk footbridge opened on September 12th 2006. The new eye catching design bridge reflects Newports modern day image, the bridge spans 145 metres (476ft) across the River Usk. For more information on the Usk footbridge please click here. |

There are also plans for development and regeneration schemes in; Rodney Parade, the railway station, Old Town Dock and the University campus.
