Riverfront & Cambrian Car Park Changes

The Riverfront car park closed on Sunday 13 January to accommodate further regeneration work in the city centre.

Alternative parking is available in the Granville Street car park opposite. Granville Street car park has 350 car parking spaces, making it larger than the current Riverside car park. There is multi-storey car parking at the Cambrian Centre, Capitol Car Park, Park Square and the NCP Multi Storey, Queensway.

On November 4, the Cambrian car park entrance moved as part of the road improvements in Newport city centre.A new linear bus facility is being created on the Queensway (by the train station) which includes five new bus stands on the west bound carriageway. The existing car park entrance will be moved to ensure vehicles using the car park and buses using the stops, do not clash. The new entrance to the car park will be located on Station Street (close to the current exit point). From the roundabout vehicles should travel down Bridge Street, past City Cinema and turn left on to Station Street, then use the right-hand-lane to the car park entry point.

Cars will exit the car park along Railway Street and on to Queensway as before. These arrangements will remain in place until the planned car park closure for the City Spires redevelopment in spring 2008. A larger map is available on the front newspage of the Newport City Council website.
