| The show will feature an eclectic mix of visual and performing arts and will be hosted by TV Presenter, Actress, Charity Ambassador and fashion icon in her own right, Josie D’Arby. Performances include the best local singers, dancers and rappers alongside Urban Circle All Star remake of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Whats Going On’ hit. There will also be live band performances from punk/ska sensation Detached, Battleturfs Battle of the Bands 2007 Winners, A470 and Taste of Chaos feature band and Kerrang’s Best Unsigned Band Runner-Up 2007, My Favourite Pornstar. MOBO award winners for Best UK Newcomer, N-Dubz, performing among others their new single ‘You Better Not Waste My Time’: a hook driven gem with a conscious edge. |

“A special relationship has always existed between music and fashion, between sound and style” said Event Organiser Dennis Mackenzie. “Newport is rapidly becoming the fashion capital of Wales with the concentrated creative focus at both the University of Wales, Newport School of Art, Media and Design and Coleg Gwent Creative Industries, home of extremely talented fashion designers and hair & make-up artists. It just makes sense for the new city to host this unique collaboration between two of the world’s most powerful cultural influences. Expect a red carpet, star studded affair!”

What makes this an exciting but also important event is the fact that it is the first fund-raiser for local charity, Urban Circle Productions. As a non profit organisation and the biggest youth initiative outside of council led projects in Newport, Urban Circle relies entirely on volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. It is responsible for running the area’s first online radio station www.urbancircle.co.uk and provides performance based activities at local festivals including Maindee Festival and Jumpin in July – a multi activity urban youth festival in the city centre. Much needed funds will help Urban Circle to greatly enhance support for young people of all ages and abilities, impacting, empowering and positively changing their perspectives and way of life.
